Millie’s College 101: Frat Parties – Hotels

My favourite type of fraternity party was no doubt what we at Kendry called hotels – but many other campuses call ‘Round the World’. A corridor of bedrooms were turned into the party room, and each bedroom had a different themed drinks. Drinks varied depending on the frat house but staples were Apple Pie Shots, Dr Pepper Shots, Ice Block Shots and Scorpion Bowls.

Whilst my liver groans now at what I used to drink at university – I have to admit a Dr Pepper Shot (a shot full of amaretto dropped into a glass of beer) would taste pretty good right now. As would an apple pie shot – apple juice, vodka, whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon.

It changed the dynamics of a party as usually frat parties were held in large basements or party rooms, but once moved to the bedrooms they got you talking to different people. Each room was hosted by one or two brothers that you couldn’t fail to talk to when you went in. There would usually be a few other people in the room too and it because of the small nature of the room you’d usually strike up a conversation.

Just in case your curious – here’s a link to the flaming Dr Pepper Shots

Enjoy and drink responsibly!

Millie’s College 101: Beer Pong

Ah, just the very words beer pong take me right back to my time at Kendry. No party was ever complete without the game. Beer Pong 1

You needed a large long table with plastic cups (like the red and blue ones you always see in the movies), fill them half way with beer, then line them up in triangles at opposite ends of the table. You then take it turns with your opposing team to try and land a ping pong ball in one of your opponents cups.

It was always amazing when you won, but then as winners you had to stay on the table, and you’d get drunker and drunker… We occasionally used to play it with grain alcohol and kool aid, but you didn’t need many games of that before you hit the floor 🙂

By the end of the night the fraternities always looked pretty messy – and the beer would often spill all over the floor leaving you with sticky flip flops!

Beer Pong 2

Once Kristen and I played what we called Japanese beer pong. We were sat in her lounge and sat on the floor using a low coffee table as the table. We had to have cat like reflexes to make sure that when we hit one of the cups that it didn’t spill over the floor!

You can actually buy beer pong kits in the UK now – but all you really need are the cups, ping pong balls and a large table – preferably outside where you don’t mind the mess!

Millie and the American Proposal

I’m delighted that I’ve just started writing ‘Millie and the American Proposal’. It’s book number 3 in the series and it takes places a few years after the infamous wedding.

In chapter one we join Millie in Zurich at Christmas time visiting her boyfriend who’s working out there. Cue lots of drinks curled up under fury blankets, trees decorated in Swarovski crystals and a gluvine at the Christmas markets.

To celebrate me starting work on book three, both Millie books are under £1. So why not catch up if you haven’t read them yet.
